YLT is presenting its first annual Christmas variety show, December 16 and 17. The show is packed with music, and full of delight for audiences of all ages. “We are creating a family experience that we hope will become a tradition,” says Duff Finn, Director. “This is a show for people who love Christmas music and revel in the Christmas spirit.”

The show features a local cast of nearly 60 who will be presenting three distinct Christmas Cards. The first is from London, the second is from Bethlehem and the third, with a sophisticated flair, is from New York City. The evening also includes lobby entertainment from YLT’s Glee Club, lead by Rebecca Wolf, solos from soprano Beatrice Gilbert, and several numbers with YLT’s “Musical Theatre Blast” class.

“The music is just so beautiful,” says Finn, of the work of musical arranger Jerry Yoder. “Jerry has arranged stunning harmonies and exciting blends.” The production team also includes Musical Director Beverly Spangler and Costume Designer Karen Wishart. The orchestra includes Carol Heagy on Piano, Jeffrey Bitzer on bass, and Jim McMillion on drums.

Audiences can expect some well-known songs such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Oh Holy Night,” and “Santa Baby;” but they will also hear some lesser-known Christmas songs such as “Breath of Heaven,” “One King,” and “Joseph’s Song.” “We are including a really beautiful version of “Silent Night” done with simple guitar accompaniment,” adds Finn. “This show will definitely put you in the Christmas Spirit.”

A Musical Christmas Card is sponsored by Mike Ausherman Painting and Buchmyer’s Pools, media sponsor Flipsidepa.com, and runs at YLT December 16 and 17 at 8:00 p.m., and December 17 at 3:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $23, seniors are $21, students are $18, children are $10. Tickets can be purchased at www.ylt.org or 854-5715, from 11 - 5 weekdays.
