Arden Theatre Company presents A DOLL'S HOUSE by Henrik Ibsen in a version by Simon Stephens from January 11 - February 25, 2018. Terrence J. Nolen directs on the Arden's intimate Arcadia Stage. The production sponsor for A DOLL'S HOUSE is TD Bank and the Honorary Producer is Elizabeth Gemmill.
In A DOLL'S HOUSE, Nora and Torvald are living their dream life with the brightest of futures. A long-buried secret of Nora's rises to the surface, and she must choose between outward perfection and inner truth.
Director Terrence J. Nolen says, "I have long been drawn to A DOLL'S HOUSE and its examination of marriage, money and power. Over the years, I've done several readings of A DOLL'S HOUSE with different casts. Each time, I've loved rediscovering the play with different actors, but have not felt compelled to produce it. Last fall, soon after the Presidential election, we did a reading with Katharine Powell as Nora and the play seemed to leap off the page - gripping and shocking and incredibly relevant."
A DOLL'S HOUSE will be produced on the Arden's smaller Arcadia Stage. Nolen adds, "We wanted an intimate space for this production because it puts you inside of a marriage, behind closed doors. To that end, we've reconfigured the Arcadia Stage to bring the audience as close as possible. The production will be in the round - with the audience 'in the room and under the bed' with these characters."
The cast of A DOLL'S HOUSE includes Katharine Powell as Nora, Cody Nickell as Torvald, Akeem Davis as Krogstad, Scott Greer as Dr. Rank, Becky Chong as Kristine Linde, Joilet Harris as Anna, Emily Kleimo as Helene and Zach O'Connor as Ivar.
