The Provident Bank Foundation awarded a $5,000 Community Grant to the State Theatre Center for the Arts located in Northampton County for their 2016 FREDDY Awards program.

Modeled after the Tony Awards, the FREDDY Award program is an arts education program that all local high schools are invited to participate in. The mission on the program is to recognize and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in local high schools.

"The Provident Bank Foundation places a strong emphasis on educational programs for the youth in the communities served by Provident Bank," said Jane Kurek, executive director of the Provident Bank Foundation. "The FREDDY Award Program provides an opportunity to encourage creativity, collaboration, and strengthen the students' self-esteem."

The Provident Bank Foundation was established in 2003 by The Provident Bank to enhance the quality of life in the region through support of not-for-profit groups, institutions, schools and other 501(c)(3) organizations that provide services in communities served by the Bank. Since inception, the Foundation has granted more than $21million to not-for-profit organizations and institutions working toward stronger communities.
