Right before the final decision of the 2012 Presidential Election, 11th Hour Theatre Company is set to kick off their season and their brand new Next Step Concert Series with a concert performance of the TONY nominated Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.

This concert will run November 3-5, 2012 at Christ Church Neighborhood House, 20 N. American Street. Tickets cost $25. Industry members and Students and with a valid ID can get tickets for $15. Tickets are available online at www.11thhourtheatrecompany.org or by phone at 267-987-9865.

11th Hour started this concert series to introduce their audiences to some of the most groundbreaking musicals today. With the concert series, the company has a chance to try out several possibilities for upcoming seasons, and introduce their audiences to them before they decide to produce full productions. The series kicks off with a musical that is a very modern reinterpretation of history. Alex Timber’s and Michael Friedman’s Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a mix of historical fact and fiction that redefines America’s controversial seventh president, Andrew Jackson. Jackson, the man who invented the Democratic Party, drove the Indians west, and ultimately doubled the size of our nation, was swept into the White House on a wave of popularity as the United States was young and continuing to grow. Portraying Jackson as a sexy rock star, the show uses the lens of Jackson’s presidency to hold a mirror up to the Bush administration and the popular fanaticism of the first Obama campaign. All of this is set to a brilliant Emo rock score.

The cast for the concert includes Matteo Scammell, as Andrew Jackson. The rest of the ensemble plays multiple roles and includes: Michael Linden, Cory Regensburg, Pierce Cravens, Matt Mastronardi, Mark Murphy, Rachel Brennan, Alex Keiper, Kat Borelli, Laura Catlaw, and Tabitha Allen.

The show is directed by 11th Hour Associate Producer/General Manager Kate Galvin.

Performance Schedule:
Saturday, November 3rd, 8pm
Sunday, November 4th, 3pm
Monday, November 5th, 7pm

“The show examines the different types of powers that rule our country, from populism to cronyism to despotism. In the show (as in history) Andrew Jackson is swept into the White House on a tidal wave of popularity and overcomes the establishment to bring a new kind of democratic rule to this country. The show makes you think seriously about Manifest Destiny, our treatment of the Indians, Representative Democracy and what it takes to actually govern the United States,” said Galvin. “The style of the show is pretty over the top and in your face. It's very funny, and a lot of the humor is totally politically incorrect. It is a perfect show to see before you head to the polls.”
