Scelsi’s Okanagon, an amazing work that unveils the darker shades of musical expressivity, and one that has lost none of its captivating and distinctive qualities since it was written in 1968. Altogether, the works will traverse vast and varied sonic territories: from luminosity of Alvarez’s De Mares Imaginados and ritualistic glow of Jaskot’s atnongara, through turbulence of Karski’s Streamforms, to shadowy predaciousness of his Along the Edge of Darkness and Jaskot’s hannah. The works in this programme feature each instrument in rich configurations of performance techniques to form an intense interplay between physical actions and emotions.
