A true masterpiece of the ballet repertoire, Onegin is presented by West Australian Ballet for the first time. Inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s great novel, John Cranko reinterprets this compelling tale with mastery and sensitivity. Featuring an unusual twist of double unrequited love, a disillusioned young aristocrat rejects, in sport, the woman he later recognises as his true love. Set to Tchaikovsky’s powerful score, this passionate tale unleashes heartbreaking themes of ill-fated love, anguish, and tragic irony.
If you sighed for Romeo & Juliet you’ll swoon for Onegin.
