A glittering showcase of works from the ‘Father of American Ballet,’ the great George Balanchine.
Strike up the band, bring on the dancing girls and experience the distinctive energy of Manhattan as 17 of George Gershwin’s greatest songs are brought to life in the show-stopping Who Cares?
Premiered by New York City Ballet in 1948, Concerto Barocco is a sweeping, three movement classical ballet inspired by J.S. Bach’s Concerto in D for Two Violins.
Inspired by the re-discovery of a lost musical number from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de duex is a captivating display of bravura and technique.
Also included in this mixed bill programme is Principal Dancer/choreographer Jayne Smeulders’ own Tarantella, a fast paced tribute to the legendary ‘Mr B’.
