A school holiday drama program for children and teenagers is being held at the Old Mill Theatre from April 14 to 16.

From 9.30am to 2.30pm each day, Maree Grayden and Kylie Maree Bywaters are running classes as part of OMY! (Old Mill Youth) for children aged 6-10 and another for those 11-15.

The classes include role play, improvisation, storytelling, creating believable characters and many other important acting techniques.

Maree and Kylie most recently brought a pantomime version of The Wizard of Oz to life at the Old Mill Theatre, featuring an array of children of all ages.

With a 25-year background as a performer and drama teacher, Maree created the Centre Stage South West Academy of Dramatic Arts in Bunbury and has also appeared on stage with the Old Mill, Melville, Groovy Boots and KADS Theatres and Graduate Dramatic Society.

She was recognised for her performance skills at the 2011 South West Drama Festival and Dramafest, the annual state drama festival, the same year.

Maree is also an experienced director, previously responsibly for numerous professional and corporate productions.

Kylie's professional acting career has seen her tour WA and travel to the US, run drama classes and workshops in the South West and direct youth theatre groups.

Her delight in working with children comes from watching them gain new skills and becoming more self-confident.

"There is nothing more rewarding than watching these kids break out of their shells and have fun," she said.

For enrollment, course details and prices, contact Maree on 0407 936 800 or mlgrayden@gmail.com. The Old Mill Theatre is on the corner of Mends Street and Mill Point Road, South Perth, opposite the Windsor Hotel and Australia Post.
