STYLEAID ICON: THE GRAND FINALE will take place on Friday 4 August 2017 in the Crown Ballroom at Crown Towers Perth. The event will be an inspiring grand finale celebrating two decades of fashion and fundraising for the WA AIDS Council.

STYLEAID was simultaneously launched as a black tie fashion event in New York and Los Angeles in 1994 and Perth, Western Australia followed suit exactly 20 years ago in 1997.

STYLEAID has raised over $1.5 million dollars for valuable sexual health research, promotion and advocacy. It has showcased over 5,300 designer garments since its inception in 1997 and with the support, loyalty and unending generosity of the WA fashion industry; the models, the hair stylists, makeup artists and backstage volunteers have ensured that the STYLEAID runway presentation has always provided a much anticipated event in the WA events calendar.

Many of those who have given their time, and become part of the STYLEAID talent legacy, have gone on to build globally recognised success, including Nicole Trunfio, Gemma Ward, Emma Booth, Jessica Gomes, Tom Bull, Ae'lkemi, Akira, One Fell Swoop, and Zhivago.

STYLEAID was born as the number of new AIDS diagnoses in Australia peaked at around 950 cases per annum. Today that number is dramatically reduced, but still over 1,000 new cases of HIV are diagnosed each year.

Mark Reid of the WA AIDS Council said:

"The grand finale of STYLEAID isn't about thinking we have done enough and we can rest on our laurels. It is about reflecting on all we have done, recognizing those who have made such an important contribution to the success of this event and finding new and innovative ways to raise funds for this crucial cause. We want to stop, celebrate, reflect and encourage people to dig deep for this last hurrah of STYLEAID in its creative and traditional format".
