Rottofest, the annual weekend festival of comedy, film and music on Rottnest Island has announced its biggest lineup yet, with over 30 comedy performers and 20 music acts set to perform across 5 venues on the island from today 7 September to Sunday 8 September 2013.

The fifth annual Rottofest will feature the finest musicians, comedy filmmakers and stand-up comedians from across the country.

Headline comedy acts this year include Heath Franklin's Chopper, Greg Fleet, Tahir (Fat Pizza), Steady Eddy, Joel Creasey and Smart Casual as well as local improv favourites The Big Hoo Haa. Rottofest prides itself on showcasing the best up and coming local and national musicians and this year the headline music acts include reggae-pop band Sticky Fingers (NSW), Lime Cordiale (NSW), Grace Woodroofe, Sun City and The Brow Horn Orchestra.

"Rottofest is all about good times. We aim to give people a weekend they will never forget and we're confident we have the right acts, location and relaxed vibe to make 2013 our biggest year yet," said Ronan Freeburn, Festival Director.

In addition to the live comedy and music, Rottofest's Funniest Shorts will feature a curated selection of Australia's funniest short films and filmed sketches, and submissions are still open. The funniest selected short films (up to 8 minutes) and filmed sketches (up to 3 minutes) will be screened on the island at Rottofest 2013 and judged by a panel of leading industry experts, with a grand total of $1500 in cash prizes.

The winner of 'Rottofest's Funniest Short' in 2012, Melbourne-based director Alethea Jones (LEMONADE STAND), has excelled in the Australian film industry since her win. She is now developing several features and is also directing content for esteemed Production Company, Jungle Boys (A MOODY CHRISTMAS, REVIEW WITH MYLES BARLOW).

"Winning Rottofest's Funniest Film was a thrill. Rottofest is such a supportive film festival that's doing wonderful things for comedy. Team LEMONADE STAND has had a thoroughly great experience!" said Jones.
