From the North Pole through to Bethlehem and back, Elfin Productions is delivering never-before-told tales of Christmas at the Latvian Centre Theatre.
Written and directed by John Grimshaw, This is Christmas features various iconic figures such as Jesus, Santa Claus, Rudolph, Prancer and three questionably wise men.
"This is Christmas is the festive season as you've probably never seen before - or will - again," Grimshaw said.
"The show also has an odd assortment of Christmas figurines including Haggith who, some years ago, traded a Glasgow bedsit for a new life in downtown Bethlehem."
Grimshaw was inspired to write another Yuletide-themed show after his previous success and enjoyment with The Karaoke Twist Christmas Special.
"The intention with This is Christmas is to make it a 'fun-for-all' for all cast and crew, as well the audiences," he said.
Elfin Productions is Grimshaw's latest company, following in the footsteps of A lad in sane productions [all lower case correct] which staged 15 productions over seven years.
Grimshaw was also named best new writer at the 2009 and 2010 Dramafests, the annual state drama festival, and has several plays listed with South Australia's Moore Books and Lazy Bee Scripts in England.
"With This is Christmas, I'm hoping audiences turn up in sufficient numbers so I can gain enough funds to entice Delta Goodrem on a date with a bunch of flowers via Rivervale IGA and lunch at Nando's," he said.
This is Christmas plays at 8pm December 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 and 5pm December 14 and 21. Tickets are $20 - book at www.trybooking.com/FUUJ. Party bookings available online.
Proceeds of all ticket sales from the December 11 show will go to the Stirling Women's Centre (Refuge), established in 1979 to provide crisis accommodation to women and children experiencing family and/or domestic violence.
