"A person does well to uplift in life, with all the making over and the making out in the adult entertainment industry there's inevitable lifting and we do ourselves proud lifting above our weight appreciating ourselves enjoying our reflections. Here's your chance to have me on the cabaret stage as your tour guide with a soundtrack of indelible songs telling it all for one and one for all but obviously because it's my life I'm singing, me."

Her charm and poise a picture of decorum, it is not unusual for people to double check the fine print when it comes to Candy Chambers as decades ago she was shooting to the top as an underground star seldom seen in the mainstream media. Candy Chambers, notorious for a conflict resolution moment that went horribly wrong and landed her incarcerated and isolated from liberty but never reality.

"People think after working in pornography there'd be nothing left of me to expose," says Chambers as she makes ready for the world premiere of Candy Chambers Fifty Forever at Connections Nightclub in North Bridge, Perth, Western Australia.

"So many times I asked myself, 'when ever has there been a time when the world needs love more than now?' it was a rhetorical question but on my fiftieth birthday I answered it. I opened myself up as wide as humanly possible. Honestly I've won awards for opening myself up but this was the widest, the deepest ever. My heart chakra was glowing like a raspberry humbug just as it sticks to your tongue. There are more ways than one to make one wide. We all saw Oprah go through getting wide; on a clear day you can see your hem line. Jesting and loving. Loving because that's what we needed more than anything else.

"Only limited people have reacted poorly to my past in porn. What can I do if they've already come face to face with the rear end of the story without seeing what I've got up front today? There's an inroad towards healing waiting to be explored there you can see. The great writer Jacqueline Susann said, 'Once is not enough' and she was right. In adult entertainment I was a natural, when I made love to the camera I really gushed. Life is a wonderful thing. No different to other woman my age, I saw Mary Tyler Moore and Calista Flockhart reinvent femininity alongside Elizabeth Taylor and Cher. They've all gushed in their own way. I gush in my own way and they in theirs and I think the twain's have even met in some cases, and I'm still here, I still love men. In cabaret it's different to film. The spotlight does the gushing for you. The emotions are raw and passionate in a different way; it's as intimate as you can get for twenty-five dollars with a bar.

Chambers' show Fifty Forever celebrates her torrid past as a not so private dancer of the exotic variety and adult actress who has reinvented herself as a cabaret star via incarceration and rehabilitation, the only way is up.
"When I put the possibilities behind me, as if my life were a television series and every year was a new season, well I'd say the pinnacle of it all was season fifty. That's when I was awash in a tsunami of org*smic insight with the sweetest understanding of being rehabilitated. After going through so much, as if life isn't complicated enough, I understood.
