To celebrate the life and works of The Bard on the annual Robbie Burns night (Fri 25 Jan) audiences begin their show experience with a traditional BURNS NIGHT supper, complete with the piper, haggis, neeps, poetry, toasts and drams!
6pm Tue 22, Wed 23, Thu 24 and Sat 26 Jan (one hour show) 5:30pm Fri 25 Jan (90 minutes special BURNS NIGHT supper & show)
What Doesn't Kill You [blah blah] Stronger, 9.00pm Tuesday 5 to Saturday 9 February This show took out both the 2018 major fringe awards (Winner Martin Sims Award & WA Winner, The West Australian Arts Editor Award). Presented by Perth based Holland St Productions the show centres on bizarre and extraordinary tales of survival from all over the world, and they're all true. For example:
A river guide gets swallowed by a hippopotamus...and survives. - A British stewardess makes it through three shipwrecks. - An Alabama housewife gets hit by a meteorite, and lives to tell the tale Musically brilliant and comically polished, this show is a stand-out example of imaginative and well-crafted cabaret.
Andrews Sisters performed by the Swing Sisters with Oz Big Band, 6.00pm Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 February This is easily the largest show we have ever presented for fringe, combining two local Perth acts - the Swing Sisters and Oz Big Band - taking to the stage with over 20 musicians and vocalists. The show relives memories of the 1940s and the world of the Andrews Sisters, the vocal trio that defined the sound of the swing era.
Don't Judge Country (cause it starts with...), 7:30pm Tue 12 to Sat 16 Feb A new show from the creative force behind One Hit Wanda! Karaoke Killer, featuring the music of Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Slim Dusty and more! Jersey Boys actress, West Australian TV personality and FRINGE WORLD sensation Cinzia Lee returns to The Maj with a riotous cabaret for lovers of country and people who thought country & western wasn't their thing.
