Today we rewind to 2013, when Sting was preparing to bring The Last Ship to Broadway. The Last Ship played for 105 performances at the Neil Simon Theatre, where it opened on October 26. 

Today we rewind to 2010, when American Idiot opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre, where it played for 422 performances. Directed by Michael Mayer, it starred John Gallagher, Jr., Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Tony Vincent, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Christina Sajous.

Take a look at video from The Public Theater's A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner and directed by Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis. This scorching new version of Kushner's first play began performances in the Anspacher Theater on Tuesday, October 29 with an official press opening on Monday, November 25. A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY was originally scheduled to close on December 8, but has now been extended twice through Sunday, December 22.

Last night, Michael C. Hall perfomed David Bowie's 'Lazarus' at the 2016 Mercury Prize ceremony. The song was featured on Bowie's final album Blackstar, which was nominated for a Mercury Prize.

The cast and crew of the new off-Broadway musical LAZARUS were devastated to learn of yesterday's news that the production's co-writer, David Bowie, had passed away from liver cancer at the age of 69.

David Bowie has shared a first listen to 'Lazarus,' the second single off his upcoming album Blackstar. The song will debut in full this Thursday, December 17th on the BBC and NPR.

The original cast and band of Sting's musical The Last Ship reunited on the 54 Below stage earlier this week to celebrate their run with an eclectic evening themed around seafaring songs. THE LAST SHIP played its final performance on Broadway on Saturday, January 24 at 8 p.m. At the conclusion of the show, its composer, and cast member Sting took to the stage to thank the cast, crew and the audience and to reflect on the show's journey. Watch below!
