Happy Birthday, Frank Langella! Langella won his first Tony Award for his performance in Edward Albee's Seascape and 1975 and was nominated for another for what may have been the performance for which he was best known for in the early part of his career: the title role of the 1977 Broadway production of Dracula. He then appeared on Broadway in such plays as Sherlock's Last Case, Strindberg's The Father (winning a Drama Desk Award), Match (Tony Award nomination), and Fortune's Fool, for which he won a second Tony Award. He was cast as Richard Nixon in Peter Morgan's Frost/Nixon, which received enthusiastic reviews during a run at the Donmar Warehouse and Gielgud Theatre in London before moving to New York's Bernard B. Jacobs Theater in April 2007, culminating in Langella's third Tony Award. He reprised the role of Nixon in the 2008 film Frost/Nixon, directed by Ron Howard.

Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance opens tonight, November 20 on Broadway, starring Glenn Close, John Lithgow, Lindsay Duncan, Bob Balaban, Clare Higgins, and Martha Plimpton. The limited engagement of A Delicate Balance, directed by Pam MacKinnon, will run through Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Two time Oscar nominee and Tony Award winner John Lithgow stopped by this morning's TODAY to talk about co-starring opposite Glenn Close in the revival of Edward Albee's play A DELICATE BALANCE on Broadway.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Tony winner and premier actress of the American stage Marian Seldes, 86, died peacefully at her home Monday after an extended illness. BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed the sad news today that Broadway legend Elaine Stritch died this morning, at home in Birmingham, MI. The star was 89 years old. As part of P.S. 212's First Grady Theatre Study focusing on the works of Stephen Sondheim, Elaine Stritch visited the Manhattan school's 'theatre babies' and performed 'Broadway Baby' for the rapt crowd of kiddos.
