British talent turned out this evening for the 16th Moet British Independent Film Awards. The winners were announced at the star-studded ceremony, held at Old Billingsgate which was hosted by BIFA Winning actor James Nesbitt.

Today BAFTA brought together the 17 'Breakthrough Brits' for a day of mentoring by leading industry figures at BAFTA's headquarters, 195 Piccadilly in London , followed by an evening reception in their honour at the Burberry global flagship store, 121 Regent Street.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is delighted to announce the first ever BAFTA Breakthrough Brits, in partnership with Burberry. The 17 talented newcomers, who are making a name for themselves within film, television or games, will be celebrated at a showcase event on Monday 21 October.

The event, sponsored by the Young Artist Foundation, raises money each year to help struggling young actors and musicians pursue their dreams. Kicking off the 2013 Awards Season, The 24th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) Awards Gala, presented by Cartier, was held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Palm Springs Convention Center hosted by Mary Hart. Honorees were presented with an original Chihuly Glass Sculpture designed by Dale Chihuly or the John Kennedy 'The Entertainer' statue. The event is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and Entertainment Tonight.

The winners will be announced live at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards ceremony on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. The show will broadcast live on The CW Network at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

The National Board of Review has deemed Kathryn Bigelow's ZERO DARK THIRTY the best film of the season. The award comes only three days after the film took the top honors in the New York Film Critics Circle awards.

Samantha Barks, star of the upcoming film LES MISERABLES, is one of six young actors who will be honored with the 'Hollywood Spotlight Award' at this year's Hollywood Film Awards gala ceremony to be held October 22 at the Beverly Hilton. Barks is set to play Eponine in the film version of Les Miserables - the role she played at the 25th anniversary concert.

The American Film Institute's annual festival announced the line up for its Centerpiece Galas today. Featured in the top spots will be Ang Lee's Life Of Pi, Walter Salles' On The Road, DreamWorks Animation's Rise Of The Guardians and Jacques Audiard's Rust And Bone starring Marion Cotillard. Also included will be the world premiere of HITCHCOCK, starring Anthony Hopkins in the title role.
