In 2015, Stephen Petronio Company culminated its 30th anniversary 2014-15 season with a transformation: the launch of Bloodlines. This autobiographical project not only honors the lineage of American postmodern dance, but also traces the influences and impulses that have shaped choreographer Stephen Petronio, an artist uniquely positioned to preserve this postmodern tradition.

In our current political climate, comedians and satirists have fertile ground to cover. Entering this fray is an outrageous new theater production calculated to provoke, offend and get you thinking - no matter what your political affiliation is!

SlashR, a tongue in cheek satire written & directed by Tony Stinkmetal and centered around the fractured culture in the wake of the last national election and inventively staged in the style of the 1970s slasher movies of Dario Argento and John Carpenter, will make its world premiere September 5 - 15th at the Gene Frankel Theatre. The production is intended to convince Americans to liberate themselves from our two party political system.

CBS FALL PREVIEW, hosted by stars Candice Bergen (MURPHY BROWN), Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield (THE NEIGHBORHOOD), Brandon Micheal Hall (GOD FRIENDED ME), Jay Hernandez (MAGNUM P.I.), Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki (FBI) and Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens West (HAPPY TOGETHER), is a primetime special highlighting the Network's six new fall series, including the revival of the groundbreaking comedy series MURPHY BROWN. It will be broadcast Monday, Sept. 10 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and CBS All Access, CBS' digital subscription video on demand and live-streaming service.

The 2018-19 Season marks Creative Cauldron's tenth year producing and presenting live theater and music. This season includes a diverse range of programming for adults and families alike. Highlighting the season will be a world premiere musical, On Air, written by internationally produced duo Stephen Gregory Smith and Matt Conner. On Air is the final installment of Creative Cauldron's five-year "Bold New Works for Intimate Stages" initiative.

In her third production at JACK, playwright Amina Henry shares a ghost story (with songs) about a homeless man who is approached in the park by the ghost of a murdered prostitute.  The ghost enlists him on a quest to find her remains so that her grieving mother can finally bury her and move past her mourning. Hunter John and Jane approaches trauma, mental illness and violence towards women in a whimsical way, giving the audience the opportunity to engage with difficult topics through poetic language as well as through a rich musical and visual landscape. With this work, Henry re-imagines what a love story can be, re-imagines what a musical can be, and proposes a world in which all lost or missing individuals are worthy of being found.

According to Variety, Kenya Barris and Pharrell Williams will collaborate on a stage musical about Juneteenth, the African-American holiday honoring the date that U.S. Army ships forced Texas landowners to free the last of their slaves. It is viewed as the last day of slavery in the United States.

Here's a comedy about what happens when the friendliest guy in the Midwest moves his family (the Johnsons) to a neighborhood in Los Angeles where not everyone looks like him—or appreciates his extreme neighborliness. In 1983, Hugh Whitemore turned the true story of Russian espionage into a play entitled Pack of Lies. It tells the story of the Johnsons, a nice middle aged English couple, and their best friends, the Krogers, who live next door. When Scotland Yard asks if they can use their house to investigate a spy ring, the Jacksons agree never suspecting the spies are the Krogers.

The Klangbad collective is very pleased to announce that Mary Ocher will be performing across the U.S. and Canada this year. Touring in support of her new release The West Against The People (Klangbad) and its follow up 10' Faust Studio Sessions and Other Recordings(Klangbad/Sing A Song Fighter - a special cassette edition released by Related Records will be available on tour), the run of dates begins March 7th at the Victoria Event Centre in Victoria, B.C., Canada.  More date will be announced soon!

Inspired silliness. Now playing at the New Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park through February 11, 2018 is the 1994 British farce 'Funny Money' starring Jim O'Heir. It is an Olivier Award nominated, misbegotten tale of misdirection, accident, flight, and comic mistaken identities.

Musician, visual artist, and performer Sahra Motalebi returns to The Kitchen - following her 2015 performance Sounds From Untitled Skies-with Directory of Portrayals (from Rendering What Remains), an open-form opera based on an ongoing online exchange between the artist and her sister.

Freeform, Disney's young adult television and streaming network, will debut the premiere of grown- ish, on January 3, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. EST, in a special two-episode event. From the executive producer of ABC's Emmy-nominated black ish, comes grown-ish, a half-hour spinoff comedy tackling current social issues and complexities facing both students and administrators.
