waitress with a dream and the ingredients for success! Sugar, butter, flour. These aren’t the only ingredients Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker, uses to make her famous pies. Stuck in a small town and a loveless 
marriage, Jenna unexpectedly becomes pregnant, and then finds acceptance and love in the most unexpected place.

The BroadwaySF High School Musical Theatre Awards have been renamed The Sara Bareilles Awards in honor of the two-time Grammy Award winner and three-time Tony Award nominee.

This past weekend, Sara Bareilles surprised Sundance audiences by performing the new song 'Salt Then Sour Then Sweet,' co-written by Brandi Carlile and Andrea Gibson for the documentary Come See Me in the Good Light.

One of my favorite pieces of musical theatre opened at the Omaha Community Playhouse on January 24th. WAITRESS, featuring the prodigious music and lyrics of Sara Bareilles and book by Jessie Nelson, was adapted from Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 film script of the same name. Shelly wrote, directed and co-starred in the film, but was murdered in 2006 when she was only 40 years old. Sadly, Shelly never saw the film which opened three months later.

Due to an overwhelming response to Waitress: the Musical, the Missoula Children's Theatre is serving up a hold-over of one additional performance  on Monday, January 27th at 7:30PM.

A new record label, Joy Machine Records, has launched with a special focus on new musical theater projects and solo projects from new artists. The label is co-founded and run by Broadway music veterans Ian Kagey, Sonny Paladino, Brian Usifer and Will Van Dyke.

The recording of Waitress: The Musical, starring Sara Bareilles will be available to stream on Max in time for Valentine's Day, February 14, 2025. The filmed capture was screened in theaters in December of 2023 and is also available to rent and purchase.

With Smash about to make a splash on Broadway this season, the question was asked: how many Broadway musicals have been based on television? The Green Room 42 will present Bligh Voth, Joel de Candio, and Nolan Bonvouloir in 'The Sondheim Sessions'. The popular NYC Sondheim series returns following successful shows in 2023 and 2024.

The New York Pops continues its 24-25 season with Let's Misbehave: The Songs of Cole Porter on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.
