The preteens dressed in their matinee finest seemed to be having a swell time when this critic attended The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. So really, if this review seems less than enthusiastic, it's written with the full understanding that pleasing an overly-seasoned playgoer who, until recently, thought this was going to be a jukebox musical about some songwriter named Percy Jackson, is not a priority.

Grammy winning, singer-songwriter Curt Chambers pays homage to one of his favorite country music superstars with a hard-hitting rendition of “Don't Rock the Jukebox.” The Philadelphia native infused his love of rock and blues into the remake of the classic 90's country anthem and deliberately dropping the single two days before Alan Jackson's Birthday. Jackson celebrated three decades of music and his first record deal this year. The tribute to Jackson is also intended to celebrate the impact he has made on artists and musicians in the country music world.

Stephanie Poetri releases new music video for the remix of her viral hit, “I Love You 3000 II” featuring K-Pop superstar Jackson Wang. A campy take on public access talk shows, late night infomercials, cooking programs, and karaoke, the new “I Love You 3000 II” video features Poetri and Wang engaged in all sorts of wholesome entertainment. All of the internet's favorite things (popstars, pastels, dogs) appear in the new video, which still retains the easygoing, modest qualities of the original visuals. Poetri's light and unaffected vocals find a worthy partner in Wang, whose warm, assured voice perfectly captures the “Iron Man” she's been searching for.

The new Michael Jackson musical Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough has been making its controversial way towards Broadway, first announcing a Chicago run then cancelling shortly after the documentary Leaving Neverland premiered. The production wasn't deterred, announcing a cold open on Broadway in summer of 2020.

Due to popular demand from family audiences, the producers of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical have announced a new performance schedule that will take effect the week of November 4 at the Longacre Theatre (220 W. 48th Street) through the end of the show's strictly limited 16-week holiday engagement. The new musical will celebrate opening night on Wednesday, October 16.

Broadway's Alyssa Fox (Frozen, Wicked) and Aisha Jackson (Frozen, Waitress) combine forces to raise money for Moms Demand Action: For Gun Sense America, as a part of the Mosaic Concert Series. The concert will be held November 4, 2019 at 7:00PM. The evening will feature a mix of Broadway, pop, and gospel/spiritual music as well as poetry and dance. There will also be voter registration people to vote and education on how to advocate for gun control legislation.
