Southern Rep Closes New Play BACCHANAL, 1/31

The SOUTHERN REP NEW PLAY BACCHANAL showcasing an array of workshops and readings featuring writers Jim Fitzmorris, Steve Yockey, Pete Sturman and Brian Sands among others; and guest lectures with DOUG WRIGHT and ERIC OVERMYER, will close January 31st, 2010. In addition, SRT will feature the 10-MINUTE PLAY RIOT and RADIO RIOT COMPETITION winners and finalists; host the late night ALTERNA-ENDINGS PLAY SLAM; and close out the Bacchanal with a celebratory TOGA! PARTY!

For the Almeida Theatre's 2009 Summer Festival (8 July - 1 August 2009) the Yorkshire based Slung Low, The TEAM (Theater of the Emerging American Moment) from New York, GULP and Tiata Fahodzi have been invited to collaborate with the Almeida at its home base in Islington and the surrounding area. In addition, the Festival will present a concert by Heather Christian, an Installation by Lu Kemp and a concert celebrating African music presented by Tiata Fahodzi. The Almeida Theatre is very grateful to American Airlines - Airline Partner of the Almeida.

With direction by Alex Kilgore and Evan Cabnet, the cast of SPIN will feature Patch Darragh (Crimes of the Heart, SAFE), Rebecca Henderson (U.S. Drag, VENGEANCE), Jesse Hooker (Some Men, Iphiginia 2.0), David Ross (VENGEANCE) and Dreama Walker ('Gossip Girl'). SPIN begins performances Friday evening, October 3, 2008, for a limited engagement through Saturday evening, November 8, at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street between Barrow & Bedford Streets). Opening night is Saturday evening, October 11, 2008 at 8:00PM.

Classic Stage Company Presents Return of 'First Look Festival'

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, will present the return of its popular First Look Festival - a program of one-night only staged readings, performed by notable actors. This season, the CSC First Look Festival turns its gaze to the works of Bertolt Brecht, perhaps one of the most influential playwrights of the 20th Century. Brecht's plays redefined the very nature of theatrical presentation to address the most pressing concerns of his tumultuous generation. CSC will be presenting four of Brecht's seminal works: The Caucasian Chalk Circle, In the Jungle of Cities, The Good Person of Sezuan, and Life of Galileo.
