On Monday, February 20th, The Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, The Lion King, and Garth Fagan Dance celebrated the show's Tony, Olivier, and Helpmann Award-winning choreographer and founder of Garth Fagan Dance, Garth Fagan, the longest-running Black choreographer in Broadway history. 

The Library of Congress has acquired the papers of choreographer Garth Fagan and Garth Fagan Dance, the company founded by Fagan in 1970. Garth Fagan Dance is distinguished by the artistic imagination and polyrhythmic movement of Jamaican-born Fagan, layered with the discipline and strength of ballet training. The company has performed in more than 660 cities in 24 countries on six continents.

NEXT WEEK, Nov. 30 through Dec. 6, the 2020 ADG Virtual Festival will stream WEEK EIGHT, a tribute to Garth Fagan, Martha Myers and the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers/Louis Mofsie, honorees at American Dance Guild Festival 2017 - 'Celebrating Diversity.' 

Rochester's world-renowned Garth Fagan Dance presents its exciting 2019 Home Season just in time for the holidays: December 11 a?" 15 at Nazareth College Arts Center (4245 East Avenue, 14618)'s Callahan Theatre. Home for the Holidays performances are: Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. A meet-and-greet in the lobby with the entire company will follow each performance.

Internationally acclaimed Garth Fagan Dance returns to The Joyce Theater with two vibrant world premieres and three stirring revivals from the company's rich archive.  For close to half a century, Garth Fagan - the Tony, Olivier and Bessie award-winning choreographer of The Lion King - has created an innovative signature technique that seamlessly blends the gravity of modern dance, the speed and precision of ballet and the energy and physicality of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and movements.

Garth Fagan Dance has four premieres up its sleeve for its Joyce Theater engagement, November 7-12. Two of the new dances, In Conflict and Estrogen/Genius, are by Fagan, the Tony-winning choreographer of The Lion King; the other two premieres, Wecoo Duende and A Moderate Cease, are by the company's long-time dancer and Fagan muse Norwood Pennewell.

On Sep 7, 2017, the American Dance Guild kicked off their 4-day festival at The Ailey Citigroup, marking 60 years of dance innovation with a promise to 'celebrate diversity'.
