Best known as the virtuoso accordionist in the visionary folk trio Lau, Martin Green has spent the past two years on an odyssey deep into the world of brass bands, culminating in this staging of KELI, marking its world premiere as a stage play.

Waswasa – Whispers in Prayer, is one of the major commissions for the Birmingham 2022 Festival happening in this Summer. This immersive theatrical experience, by artist Mohammed Ali, will run for ten days at the Birmingham Hippodrome from 25 August – 3 September 2022.

On Record, a new ‘sonic love letter to Birmingham’, is specially produced and commissioned by Birmingham Music Archive for the Birmingham 2022 Festival. Featuring UB40, Dapz on the Map, Friendly Fire Band, SANITY ft Black Voices, and Xhosa Cole with Soweto Kinch amongst others, the 11-track LP is an all-star Birmingham record.

The Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (IATSE Local 706) announced winners of its 9th Annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Awards, presented by HASK Beauty, in 23 categories of film, television, commercials and live theater. The gala was held on Saturday night, February 19, 2022, before a live audience at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was also livestreamed to an audience of millions worldwide.  

Produced and directed by Erick Weiss and his Honeysweet Creative team, the 9th Annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS) awards, presented by HASK® Beauty, will take place LIVE on February 19, 2022, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, as well as be streamed to thousands worldwide on YouTube and Vimeo. The MUAHS awards gala, honoring outstanding achievements of both make-up artists and hair stylists in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater, is co-produced by Honeysweet Creative and IngleDodd Media. 

Opera North has announced a new commission from sitarist Roopa Panesar for PRS Foundation and Southbank Centre's New Music Biennial 2022. 

The Chair Award will be presented by Actress Sonequa Martin-Green, Jones’ co-star on “Star Trek: Discovery.” The MUAHS awards gala, honoring outstanding achievements of both make-up artists and hair stylists in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater. Jones was the Amphibian Man in Guillermo del Toros’s The Shape of Water.

UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK is a celebration of creativity taking place across the UK in 2022, designed to reach millions and bring people together. It features free large-scale events, installations and globally accessible digital experiences in the UK’s most ambitious showcase of creative collaboration. 

The Gatekeepers Collective (TGC) is collaborating with award-winning playwright Donja R. Love (Sugar in Our Wounds, Fireflies, one in two) to curate an intergenerational development process in which narrative theatrical works reflecting stories of self-acceptance as a rite of passage on the way to queer/same-gender love are created.

As the world awaits the anticipated upcoming sequel to Space Jam, one YouTube user has created a mashup of the soundtrack to the original film and the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton.
