by Don Grigware
- Sep 27, 2013
Lorenzo Pisoni is such a damn agile and talented clown that the 90-minute set goes by in a flash, replete with tricks, virtuoso displays of ultimate precision and a lesson or two about the ups and downs of life learned from a father... that many, many can relate to.

BWW Reviews: Acrobatics, Circus History and Clown Acts Leave HUMOR ABUSE Audiences Laughing Out Loud
by Harmony Wheeler

autobiographical show, "Humor Abuse." With a lifetime of circus training, including two years spent with Cirque du Soleil, Pisoni must be used to the body twisting, acrobatic feats, but they still come as nerve-racking, albeit humorous, shockers to the audience every performance at American Conservatory Theatre. Of course, his acts are not nearly as frightening as Pisoni's admitted nemesis, the balloon, which he uses throughout his act.
Using various props and clown acts as demonstrations of key moments in his life, Pisoni incorporates everything from his father's circus story to his own coming of age journey into this captivating play.

Many of us think of our families as a big circus but Lorenzo Pisoni has special insight on the real thing as he had to run away from home in order to NOT be in the circus. Drawing from his memories growing up in the Pickle Family Circus, Pisoni and director Erica Schmidt have concocted a show that is part memoir, part clowning and all simply wonderful in "Humor Abuse", currently playing at the Seattle Rep.
