Shiver in anticipation this October for the arrival of Richard O’Brien’s hilarious musical masterpiece The Rocky Horror Show when it lands in Tasmania, for the first time in nearly 40 years, with a full professional cast of both local and national stars.

In a role approved by The Who’s Pete Townshend himself, Victorian Opera welcomes back rising star Mat Verevis (A Little Night Music, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Nine Network’s The Voice) as Narrator / Tommy. 

This production of LEGALLY BLONDE is proudly Western Australian, and features a cast and crew overwhelmingly based in or originating from WA. Whilst drawing principally from Perth may be a thing of necessity right now the performance lost nothing, and in fact seemed better for it.

Elaina O’Connor and Lloyd Hopkins first played the roles of Elle Woods and Emmett Forrest in LEGALLY BLONDE in 2018. Now, four years later, they bring a broad range of experience back to the characters they know well. Not only have the actors come a long way, but they’ll be performing to a bigger audience in a larger theatre for a longer season.

The coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) has devastated the Australian theatre industry. While the closure of theatres has significantly helped fight this pandemic by ensuring social distancing, Australian arts' workers have been left with the grim reality of unemployment. Despite this sudden and unforeseen shutdown of theatre, the comradery and resilience of those working in entertainment continues to shine. This is evident in the hard work of James Cutler and Joshua Robson Productions who have ensured that the show will go on, by establishing an outstanding performance initiative called LIGHTS UP ON THE ARTS [HOME DELIVERY].

James Cutler and Joshua Robson Productions have announced a special and unique online concert which will shine a light on the Australian musical theatre industry and support performers whose livelihoods have been impacted by the COVID-19 arts shutdown. LIGHTS UP ON THE ARTS [HOME DELIVERY] will be held on Monday 11 May from 7pm.

Victorian Opera has announced the cast of The Who's Tommy. The Who's Tommy runs at the Palais Theatre, St Kilda from Friday 14 August 2020 to Friday 21 August 2020.

In the role made famous by Joan Cusack in the hit film, Amy Lehpamer will button up, starch up and don her spectacles to play the uptight but lovable straight-laced schoolmarm with a hankering for Stevie Nicks.

Larry King has announced on Twitter that a Tony Goldwyn-directed production of PAL JOEY will come to Broadway next year. Camille A. Brown (Once On This Island) is attached to the project as choreographer.

In this contemporary tale of her journey, she finds the strength to recover and begin her life anew. Written by prolific Broadway Composer Maury Yeston (Nine, Titanic, Phantom), December Songs will be performed by Lisa-Marie Parker (Les Miserables, Cats, Blood Brothers).

Margot Astrachan and The Peccadillo Theater Company will present a developmental lab presentation of FANCY, a new musical, on Thursday, March 16 at 4PM and Friday March 17 at 11AM and 3PM at The Westside Theatre, downstairs (407 West 43rd Street).
