CASA 0101 Theater, Josefina Lopez, Artistic Director and the newly formed production company, Angel City Theater Ensemble (ACTE), Vance Valencia, Founder, will present the Los Angeles Premiere of the critically acclaimed play, MARIELA IN THE DESERT, written by Karen Zacarias, directed by Robert Beltran (Star Trek:  Voyager; Zoot Suit; Eating Raoul).  The production will be presented for a five-week run on the theater's Main Stage located at 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA  90033 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 5:00 p.m., November 4 - December 11, 2016.  There will be no performances on Thanksgiving Weekend, November 25th, 26th and 27th.

CASA 0101 Theater continues its 15th 'Quinceañera' Anniversary Season by presenting the World Premiere of DRUNK GIRL and other stories your mother warned you about becoming, written by Josefina Lopez, with additional plays written by Rocio Diaz and Libette Garcia. The production will be presented on the theater's Main Stage located at 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street across the street from the Hollenbeck Police Station), Boyle Heights, CA 90033 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 5:00 p.m., September 25 - October 18, 2015. A $10 Discounted Preview performance will be given on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 8:00 p.m.

Josefina López, the award-winning playwright and co-screenwriter of Real Women Have Curves and Founding Artistic Director of CASA 0101 Theater in Boyle Heights, CA will receive an Honorary Doctorate Degree in the Arts from her Alma Mater, Columbia College Chicago on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at which time López will deliver a Commencement Address to the Class of 2015. López graduate with a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts from Columbia College Chicago in 1993.

CASA 0101 Theater will add two additional performances for the Closing Weekend of the hit play, CLEAN START, a new comedy written and directed by Kathy Fischer (The George Lopez Show) and written and produced by Josefina Lopez (Real Women Have Curves). This event will be the inaugural theatrical event presented in the LACHSA's brand new theatre called Caroline's L.O.F.T. The event is honoring playwright Josefina Lopez ('Real Women Have Curves') with LACHSA students performing in presentations of her one-act plays, 'Food For The Dead' and 'Detained in the Desert,' the later of which Lopez just completed as a feature film.

PIE (Projects In Education) had its premiere in New York City's Central Park in the summer of 1991. The programming, created by Patrick Riviere (then Artistic Director of The Emerging Artists Project, Inc.) would go on to critical acclaim and much success in the New York Tri-State area and also Chicago, Illinois. Since that time, PIE has reached thousands of children and families in schools, parks, libraries, women's shelters, children's hospitals and other venues, often sponsored by the community, Riviere's own non-profits or through grants and donations.
