This quirky gem of a musical, which won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is the kind of show that makes you laugh, cry, and fundamentally reassess your perspective on life.

Dear Readers, first off let me wish you a Happy New Year and here’s hoping we’re in for some outstanding theater in 2025. But for now let’s set the not so way back machine to 2021 where I managed to see a new musical in previews Off-Broadway, “Kimberly Akimbo”. And let me say, Readers, it didn’t blow me away. It was cute with some fun songs but didn’t thrill me. Then it went to Broadway, and everyone lost their minds over it, and it won the Tony. Now, here we are in 2025, and that same show is at the Paramount, and while I found it a tighter show and certainly adorable and charming, I still have issue with the lack of memorable songs and, honestly, its Tony win especially when stacked up against some other shows that season.

Laura Woyasz will soon join the National Tour of KIMBERLY AKIMBO as Pattie on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in Costa Mesa, CA. Dana Steingold will play her final performance on Sunday, January 26, 2025. 

Host Marti Gould Cummings, an NYC Drag staple, is striving to make theater more accessible to New Yorkers with this free series starring some of Broadway's biggest names, including Adam Pascal, Jimbo, John Cardoza and Mandy Gonzalez.

Broadway Sacramento is kicking off the new year with a bang with the much-anticipated, multi-Tony Award-winning phenomenon, Kimberly Akimbo. David Lindsay-Abaire’s book and lyrics, based on his 2001 play, are accompanied by Jeanine Tesori’s beautiful score in this hilariously dazzling take on love and loss.

The national tour of Best Musical Tony winner KIMBERLY AKIMBO, currently playing at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City, is darkly funny and lightly sad, anchored by three-time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello’s astounding interpretation of the title role. In this video, I am joined by Broadway performer and drag artist, Marty Lauter, also known as Marcia Marcia Marcia! A graduate of the Boston Conservatory, Marty made their Broadway debut as a vacation swing in Kinky Boots, eventually going on to launch to stardom on season 15 of the hit reality tv drag competition show, RuPaul's Drag Race as their drag persona, Marcia Marcia Marcia.

Winter Rhythms will present Holiday Regards: A Revue to Celebrate! as part of its “2024 Winter Rhythms” series, the award-winning music festival at Urban Stages Theater, on Saturday, December 7 at 3:00pm and Sunday, December 8 at 7:00pm.

The show is vibrant and candy-colored, featuring an earnest cohort of character actors perfectly placed into their roles, but with a stirring score by Jeanine Tesori and witty book by David Lindsay-Abaire, the piece is an instant classic of contemporary musical theatre.
