Adelaide Festival has announced the return of iconic Canadian artist Robert Lepage with his most joyous masterwork, Igor Stravinsky’s The Nightingale and Other Fables. 

First staged at the National Theatre in 1996, Robert Lepage's masterpiece returns to London for just nine performances. Presented as part of a world tour, this new staging marks 75 years since the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. Tracing survivors and their descendants across five decades, this giant theatrical journey through time and space explores the way in which a few kilograms of uranium falling on Japan changed the course of human history.

Cirque du Soleil's 'Toruk: The First Flight' is flying into Prague's 02 Arena May 29 to June 2. 

If Robert Lepage's production of Wagner's Ring Cycle (formally, DER RING DAS NIBELUNGEN) had worked as smoothly when it opened in 2010 as it did at this season's marvelous premiere of its prologue, DAS RHEINGOLD, on Saturday afternoon, there probably still would have been complaints--not about its focus on technology but on its traditional approach. Personally, i liked it.

The Metropolitan Opera will present Richard Wagner's four-part masterwork Der Ring des Nibelungen in performances March 9-May 11, 2019.  This season's performances are the first time the Met has presented the inventive Robert Lepage staging in six seasons and are the only complete Ring cycles to be presented in North America in 2019. Marshaling the vast forces on stage and in the pit is the incoming music director of the Vienna State Opera, Philippe Jordan, who has conducted acclaimed Ring cycles in Paris and Zurich.

It is easy to be wowed by Cirque du Soleil; the acts themselves are often utterly thrilling and defy any expectations of human strength, dexterity and flexibility. With TOTEM, returning to the Royal Albert Hall for the next six weeks, a lack of some truly breathtaking acts, a coherent storyline and amusing comedy are issues that let a potentially brilliant show down.

Hailed as a masterpiece at its sold-out 2009 world premiere in Toronto and subsequent 2011 tour to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Canadian Opera Companypresents the revival of Robert Lepage's theatrically transcendent production of Stravinsky's The Nightingale and Other Short Fables. Nine performances take place on April 13, 14, 22, May 1, 2, 10, 12, 13, 19, 2018.

Less of the acrobatics, more of the storytelling is what the renowned circus troupe Cirque Du Soleil decided to offer in its 37th production, 'Toruk: The First Flight,' where about 15,000 audience members at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena attended the show's opening night last Friday, June 23.
