Charles Messina's A ROOM OF MY OWN, which made its World Premiere this evening off-Broadway at Abingdon Theatre Company, could be headed to the small screen.

Off-Broadway performances conclude March 13 at Abingdon's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street), featuring Tony Award-nominee Mario Cantone (Sex and the City, Laugh Whore, Steve) and Ralph Macchio (Dancing with the Stars, The Karate Kid, My Cousin Vinny).

The annual New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is a fertile ground for quirky, offbeat musicals, giving invaluable exposure to new projects. When I first heard that ZOMBIE STRIPPERS would be performing at NYMF this year, I couldn't help but get excited. The title alone offers enough titillating connotations to tantalize the brain, filling it with voluminous curiosity as to how a creative team makes a musical about strippers who happen to also be zombies. Unfortunately, the current end product leaves something to be desired.

The York Theatre Company and its acclaimed Developmental LAB Series presents the musical Buddy's Tavern, with Book by Raymond De Felitta, Music by Kim Oler, and Lyrics by Alison Hubbard. Peter Flynn directs, with choreography by Devanand Janki, and music direction by Mark Fifer. York Theatre Company launched its new "New2NY" series last weekend with a concert presentation and New York premiere of the musical Jack: A Musical Drama on the Life of John F. Kennedy, with book and lyrics by Tom Sawyer and Will Holt, music by Will Holt, and based on a an original concept by Tom Sawyer.
