The landmark National Theatre and Neal Street production of The Lehman Trilogy, directed by Academy Award, Tony Award, and Golden Globe winner Sam Mendes, has returned to the Gillian Lynne Theatre for a strictly limited encore season this autumn. Hailed by The New York Times as 'a genuinely epic production', The Lehman Trilogy is a sweeping story of a family spanning generations and a company that changed the world.

One of my biggest bugbears in theatre is a production that remains on stage well past its welcome. Overlong and flabby shows do neither the audience nor the show itself any favours. It is therefore a huge endorsement for me to state that a production of nearly three and a half hours really is worth every second of your time.

A fresh off the boat Jewish immigrant from Bavaria stands in awe of the musical box that in New York City in 1884. All he can repeat is Baruch Hashem (Blessed be God) and is amused when an immigration officer changes his name so easily from Chaim to Henry. This man is Henry Lehman who, along with his two brothers will create a financial firm that figured prominently in American history prior to its spectacular collapse triggering the largest financial crisis in history.

The producers, the National Theatre and Neal Street Productions, in association with Trafalgar  Entertainment, announced today that Aaron Krohn, Howard W. Overshown and Adrian Schiller will play the Lehman brothers, and a cast of characters including their sons and grandsons, when the  critically acclaimed, five-time Tony Award winning production of The Lehman Trilogy premieres at the  Theatre Royal Sydney from 21 February 2024.  

Stratford Festival extends the run of the musical Rent and Monty Python's Spamalot for a second time due to popular demand. Rent will now run until November 5 and Spamalot until November 18.

From Morris Panych, co-creator of the landmark movement piece The Overcoat, and internationally acclaimed composer David Coulter, the thrilling new work Frankenstein Revived begins performances at the Stratford Festival’s Avon Theatre. Panych will direct the production on the Avon stage, with Movement Choreographer Wendy Gorling and Dance Choreographer Stephen Cota.

It’s not uncommon to find a King onstage at the Stratford Festival. In fact, Lear and Richard II are making appearances this very season. Other iterations of King Arthur have even walked the boards from time to time. But this is almost certainly the first time a King has trotted across the stage on an imaginary horse whilst his trusted sidekick makes horse hoof sounds with coconut shells. It’s about time!
