Goodman Theatre begins the new year with a new music-and-movement-filled play: ANOTHER WORD FOR BEAUTY, a world premiere by Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries) inspired by an annual beauty pageant at El Buen Pastor womens prison in Colombia. Goodman Theatre begins the new year with a new music-and-movement-filled play: Another Word for Beauty, a world premiere by Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera(The Motorcycle Diaries) inspired by an annual beauty pageant at El Buen Pastor womens prison in Colombia. Directed by Steve Cosson and featuring seven original songs by Grammy Award winner Hector Buitrago, the show was developed through a co-commission between the Goodman and Cosson's New York-based theater company The Civilians.Â
Teatro Vista Welcomes New Ensemble Members and Artistic Associates
Teatro Vista has announced the addition of two new ensemble members and seven new artistic associates to the company. The new ensemble members include Ramon Camin and Tommy Rivera-Vega. New artistic associates include Jennifer Aparicio, Cruz Gonzalez-Cadel, Carlo Lorenzo Garcia, Isaac Gomez, Ayssette Muñoz, Yunuen Pardo and Jessie Prez.

The play by Karen Zacarias based on the book by Helen Thorpe makes it's world premier at the Denver Center Theatre Company. The sotry follows four latinas in Denver as immigration status begins to erode their opportunities and their friendships.

Cherry Jones, Raúl Esparza and More Set for Sundance Institute 2012 Theatre Lab
Sundance Institute today announced the acting company and creative advisors for the eight projects being developed at its 2012 Theatre Lab, July 9-29 at the Sundance Resort. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Producing Artistic Director, and Associate Director Christopher Hibma, the Lab is the centerpiece of the Theatre Program's year-round work and is designed to support emerging and established artists and to create a place where their original work can be effectively mentored and challenged.

Tanya Saracho (author of Kita y Fernanda, Our Lady of the Underpass and El Nogalar) returns to 16th Street ENFRASCADA (A Hoodoo Comedy of Jarring Proportions), playing April 5 - May 12, 2012 at 16th Street Theater, 6420 16th Street in Berwyn, with a press opening of Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 PM. JEFF-Nominated Keira Fromm (Redtwist's Lobby Hero) directs. ENFRASCADA, the second offering in 16th Street's Season Five 2012: Love, Faith and the Unknown, follows the successful, extended run of Accidental Rapture.
