BWW Review: Theatre Calgary's BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL Shines a Spotlight on Calgary's Talent
The highly anticipated season-closer of Billy Elliot the Musical has been a long-time coming for Theatre Calgary. With the promise of an all-Calgarian cast and more musical showcasing from emerging artists, there was a lot of excitement leading up to opening night. I left the Max Bell Theatre with the same excitement for all the things to come from this incredible production.

The Kansas City Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce that acclaimed Kansas City conductor, Ward Holmquist, will guest conduct their upcoming concert. "I had a great time leading performances of J.S. Bach's Coffee Cantata with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra during their 2017 - 18 Season and I'm so thrilled to be back with them again for Spanning the Centuries in May," said Holmquist.

In anticipation of opening night of Theatre Calgary's production of Billy Elliot, I sat down with Dance Captain Amber Bissonnette to talk about her career and life as a dancer. 'I got started in dance when I was five. My second cousin's mom owned a dance studio and my mom and my sister had just moved to Edmonton - where I'm from - and she was looking for a way to keep us busy. I started singing and acting when I was about thirteen and it was all downhill from there.'

Love Lies Bleeding is an all new ballet based on the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and it opened last night at Toronto's Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. After a critically acclaimed run at the Alberta Ballet, the production comes to Toronto for a limited engagement thanks to David Mirvish who is presenting it in the city for the rest of the week. BWW was on hand to capture photos of the lavish production and red carpet arrivals.
