BIO
Yu-Mei Chang (Mei) is a music director and keyboard player who is active around on theatre stages in Taiwan and Mainland China. After graduating from Taipei National University of the Art, Mei started her career as an assistant, and then became to a famous music director both in China and Taiwan.
She is best known for her music direction of the musical theatre in Mandarin productions, such as Avenue Q (2013-2014), How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying (2015), Daddy Long Legs (2018), Murder Ballad (2017-2019), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (2021), Laundry (South Korea, 2015), Midnight Diner (South Korea, 2018), etc. As a keyboard player, May participated in Mamma Mia! (the Mandarin production, 2013-2014), Thrill Me (the Mandarin production, 2016), Jekyll and Hyde (the Mandarin production, 2017), The Phantom of the Opera international tour (Guangzhou & Beijing, 2015-2016; Taipei, 2020), and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Taiwan, 2021-2022), Next to Normal (Taiwan, 2023) etc.
As an instructor, Yu-Mei was a member in the teaching team in Musical Theatre Training Project, an annual official workshop that held by Taipei Performing Art Center in Taiwan during 2019 to 2021.
