Desi Moreno-Penson's EL BACALAO: THE CATFISH MAN to Recieve Two Staged Readings at The Flea
There will be two workshop readings for EL BACALAO: The Catfish Man, a new, full-length play written by Latina playwright Desi Moreno-Penson. The readings will be directed by SDC Director KM Jones and will feature the acting talents of Jose Febus, Michael Tyler Jennings, Laura E. Johnston (Stage Directions), Desi Moreno-Penson, Susanne Pinedo, Yessenia Rivas, Kathy Tejada, and Fidel Vicioso.
Casting Announced For THE POINTE at Theatre Row
Casting has been announced for the upcoming Theatre Row premiere of The Pointe, a new work by Craig Donnelly. Kate London will take on the role of Madeline Davis, the legendary ballerina tasked with choreographing for a young dancers' summer intensive. Rounding out the cast are Blair Ely (Brooklyn Matthews), Fiona Huber (Raina Goldberg), Sabrina Karlin (Haley Edwards) and Yessenia Rivas (Jasmine Guerrero).
Corkscrew Theater Festival Launches Workshop Series CORKSCREW DOWNSTAIRS
Corkscrew Theater Festival, which runs July 10-August 3, inaugurates its Corkscrew Downstairs series of workshop productions this summer in the lower level theater at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, Manhattan). The four projects all take classic texts as a starting point, including A Doll's House, Twelfth Night, the poetry of Walt Whitman, and Leslie Feinberg's 1993 novel Stone Butch Blues. The Downstairs series shares one team of designers -Dan Daly (sets), Christina Tang (lights), and Cinthia Chen (props)-and one flexible repertory set, deepening the festival's focus on exploring collaboration in different forms.

Theatre for the New City Presents SUBWAY STORY (A SHOOTING)
Innumerable American children and teens are exposed to gun violence at home, in school, in their communities and in the media. In 'Subway Story (A Shooting),' playwright/director William Electric Black means to elucidate the pressures that drive the epidemic in young people. The piece is the final installment of his five-play GUNPLAYS Series, which has dramatized the epidemic of gun violence using differing approaches and theatrical styles. Theater for the New City, which has presented the entire series, will mount 'Subway Story (A Shooting),' its final installment, February 22 to March 18 in its Community Theater.
