Wynn Harmon: On Broadway, he played The Detective in Porgy and Bess (also telecast "Live from Lincoln Center" on PBS). Off-Broadway appearances include The Lucky One (Mint Theater Company), As You Like It (The Pearl Theater Company) and The New Yorkers (Musical Theater Works). International credits include: Voltaire/Dr. Pangloss in Candide, both at Th tre du Capitole de Toulouse and Op ra National de Bordeaux, and The Music Man at Royal Opera House Muscat, in Oman. Regional credits include: Lost in the Stars, Showboat, and Candide, at The Kennedy Center; and shows or seasons with: Arena Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, The Alley Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Studio Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, Cincinnati Playhouse, Cleveland Playhouse, Baltimore Center Stage,Westport Country Playhouse, Resident Ensemble Players, Bay Street Theatre,The Glimmerglass Festival, Des Moines Metro Opera,multiple Shakespeare festivals; and The Constant Wife plus ten Shakespeare productions at The Old Globe in San Diego. Syracuse Stage reopens its doors for public performances with a fully staged professional reading of “Baldwin vs. Buckley: The Faith of Our Fathers,” a “theatricalization” by Stage's resident playwright Kyle Bass of the 1965 debate between writer and Civil Rights activist James Baldwin and conservative commentator William F. Buckley, Jr. The debate took place at Cambridge University and was broadcast by the BBC.

Whatever your philosophy on life is, one thing you would never expect is to see that philosophy come to life on stage, and then be able to laugh at it. That's the beauty of Leonard Bernstein's Candide. It doesn't poke fun at our views, it asks us to take a deeper look at them. It's when we take a deeper look we can see the humor of it. That's what makes Candide the best of all possible shows to see at the present time. Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) opened their most recent production of Candide on June 29. The brightly colored sets and costumes as well as the extremely talented cast truly make this the best of all possible productions

BWW Review: Should We Laugh or Cry? State of Civility Examined in NATIVE GARDENS at CPH
Negative racial and ethnic stereotypes, anti-ageism, political philosophical differences, and border conflicts are not usual topics for a comic play. But, author Karen Zacarias, whose 'Native Gardens' is now in production at Cleveland Play House, believes 'humor humanizes' when what could be the basis of a blood bath becomes a pool of laughter with a purpose.

Westport Country Playhouse's Sunday Symposium on July 15, following a 3 p.m. performance of the comedy, 'A Flea in Her Ear,' will feature guest speaker Catherine Sheehy, chair of dramaturgy and dramatic criticism at Yale School of Drama and resident dramaturg at Yale Repertory Theatre. The Playhouse Sunday Symposium program is free and open to the public. Sheehy will engage in a conversation about the play with David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director.
