THE STAR WHO COULD NOT TWINKLE & OTHER WINNING PLAYS Concludes FST's Children's Theatre Series
Florida Studio Theatre (FST) will present The Star Who Could Not Twinkle & Other Winning Plays, a collection of plays inspired by the imaginations of children in sixth grade and below. The Star Who Could Not Twinkle & Other Winning Plays is presented as part of FST's WRITE A PLAY (WAP) program, an award-winning arts-in-education initiative that provides students with the example, the inspiration, and the skills to write their own original plays. Plays generated through the program are submitted to FST's annual youth playwriting competition. Winning playwrights have their work selected out of thousands of submissions from around the world, to be brought to life in a professional production performed by skilled actors at FST. This year's anthology of winning plays is titled The Star Who Could Not Twinkle & Other Winning Plays.
Florida Studio Theatre Presents PINOCCHIO
Florida Studio Theatre (FST) opens its fourth annual Children's Theatre Season with Pinocchio, a new, fast-paced adaptation of Carlo Collodi's timeless classic by Greg Banks. Produced through special arrangement with Plays for Young Audiences, this play centers on a misbehaving wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy, but must avoid mischief in order to make his dream come true. Pinocchio will be performed in FST's Keating Theatre for the general public on Saturdays and select Sundays starting October 12.
FST Announces 2019 Summer Children's Show
Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces its Summer Children's Theatre production, Off the Charts!, an original musical revue celebrating the universal language of music. Featuring family-friendly versions of songs from the past century, this brand-new show explores the power of popular music to make us think, feel, and connect across generations. With songs like "Hound Dog," "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and "Uptown Funk," this music revue is for children of all ages and their favorite grown-ups.

Along with Theatre in the Park, Playmakers Repertory Company, Durham Arts Council and ABC 11, DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center, is thrilled to present the culmination of this year's Triangle Rising Star program announced from a record number of applicants. The Triangle Rising Star Live Showcase and Awards show will take place at DPAC on Tuesday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. starring student finalists from high school musical productions in the Triangle region and beyond. Triangle Rising Star is a non-profit education initiative created in 2011 to celebrate high school theater students who participate and excel with wide -ranging talents in their musical productions. Triangle Rising Star is a regional qualifying program for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA).
