BWW Review: PIPPIN at The Firehouse Theater
Firehouse Theater once again takes a bite of a huge show with Pippin - and though at time it felt like more than the space was prepared to chew, some great comedic timing and a strong supporting cast make the evening a fun one.

The Firehouse Theatre (2016 BWW Award for Best Theatrical Venue under 500 Seats) in Farmers Branch, TX, unveils their big summer musical of Pippin, by Steven Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson. Pippin was originally directed for the Broadway stage in 1972 by Bob Fosse, and the 2013 Broadway revival earned 4 Tony awards including Best Musical Revival. The Firehouse Theatre will present their summer musical in a Big Top Circus presentation, similar to the style of the Broadway Revival production, including aerial performers, magic tricks, and death defying acts!
PIPPIN runs July 19th through August 20th, with show times Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30pm and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets and more information can be found at www.TheFirehouseTheatre.com or call 972-620-3747.
BWW Review: JUNIE B. JONES IS NOT A CROOK at Dallas Children's Theater
JUNIE B. BWW Review: SPRING AWAKENING at Runway Theatre
In 2007, Dunken Sheik and Steven Sater's rock musical SPRING AWAKENING took home eight of the eleven Tony Awards it was nominated for, including the coveted Best Musical award. It was bold, new, edgy - and it caught the hearts and minds of everyone who saw it. Although the current local production at Runway Theatre is unlikely to be held to the same standards, the audience reaction to the company's opening night performance was every bit as excited about the show as the audiences in New York.
