Review: INSURRECTION: HOLDING HISTORY at Convergence-continuum

What did our critic think of INSURRECTION: HOLDING HISTORY at Convergence-continuum? Is it true that in order to understand your present, you must understand your past? If you understand the past, and could insert yourself into the events happening, could you change your present? Could you actually change the course of history?

BWW Review: MASSACRE (SING TO YOUR CHILDREN) at Convergence-Continuum

"Massacre (Sing to Your Children)" is an abstract play whose meaning will depend on an individual's views of the world, and their willingness to search for the author's intent and purpose. This is a script and production for playgoers who like to probe for ideas with no need for clarity of ideas or outcomes.
MASSACRE Opens 5/19 at Convergence-Continuum

Convergence-continuum presents the Ohio premiere of Massacre (Sing to Your Children) by Jose Rivera, directed by Clyde Simon.  After enduring six years of psychological and physical terror, seven citizens of a small New Hampshire town stage a revolt and murder the man who has destroyed them--or do they? Magic realism and pulpy horror-movie conventions collide when the seven friends conspire to brutally rid their small town of its viciously oppressive mayor.   Massacre is a powerful depiction of the use of violence as a response to living under a repressive plutocratic regime, and of our own role in perpetuating the tyranny.

BWW Review: Delightful THE LITTLE MERMAID at Beck Center

One of the difficulties of doing the Disney Theatrical, The Little Mermaid, is how to do the underwater scenes. Yes, much of the story of Ariel, the daughter of King Triton, the master of the sea, in her search for 'a world in which I feel truly realized in my own terms,' takes place, as the songs states, 'Under the Sea,' in contrast to 'The World Above.'

BWW Review: Funny, Competing THE MYSTERY OF LOVE AND SEX Opens New Season at Dobama

Bathsheba Doran, author of The Mystery of Love and Sex now on stage at Dobama Theatre, stated of the script, 'I had no plans for subject matter. I never do when I begin. As my play stormed out of me, unstoppable and violent, I was horrified. The experience was deeply unpleasant, emotionally. I was the most embarrassing of writers in the cafe where I worked: tears streamed down my face as I stabbed out the dialogue on my keyboard. I looked up once, just in time to see a nearby guy whisper amusedly to a girl: 'Whoa, she's really into it.'
