World Premiere Of THY WOMAN'S WEEDS Comes to Centaur Theatre
Centaur Theatre, in partnership with Repercussion Theatre and Tableau D'Hôte Theatre, and developed in collaboration with Playwrights' Workshop Montréal, have announced the long-awaited world premiere of THY WOMAN'S WEEDS by Erin Shields and directed by Amanda Kellock.
METAs Recipients Announced for the 2019-20 season
The Montreal English Theatre Awards Committee is proud to announce the recipients of the 2019-20 METAs, Montreal English theatre's largest and most important peer-juried awards. The 8th Annual METAs Ceremony was held this Sunday evening, November 29th and was streamed virtually to both the METAs' YouTube page and Facebook page.
FIGHT ON! Comes to Infinithéâtre
Following two years of applauded, in-depth workshop productions, Infinithéàtre continues its mandate of reflecting life in the 21st century with the combined and refined full-scale production of parts 1&2 of Fight On! (Nôtinikiy). With vital, overdue recognition of Indigenous Peoples manifested by Wet'suwet'en supporters joining the protest of Coastal GasLink's pipeline project running through traditional territories, Québec's signing of the Grand Alliance respecting Cree values and wildlife habitat protection in a clear break from colonial policies, and Canada Post honouring Louis Riel and the Red River Resistance with a 150th anniversary commemorative stamp, playwright and Infinithéâtre Artistic Director Guy Sprung's timely examination of Canada's ignoble past is a dynamic bonanza. Blending comedy and Dickensian irony with tragedy, Fight On! is performed mainly in English, with significant characters speaking French, Cree and Kanienʼkéha (Mohawk), from March 16-29 at the beautiful downtown Centre St Jax. There will be moderated talkbacks after a number of performances.
The Segal Centre Will be Kicking Off 2020 with SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS
The Segal Centre will be kicking off 2020 with a unique theatrical experience that takes #selfcare to the next level - just in time to help keep those New Year's resolutions going! Directed by Segal Centre Artistic Associate Caitlin Murphy, the Montreal premiere of Bess Wohl's Small Mouth Sounds will be in the Segal Centre Studio from February 9 to March 1, 2020.

Montreal's Local Indie Scene Invites 8 Companies for their 16-17 Season!
This 2016-2017 season, eight professional theatre companies at the core of the local indie scene, satisfy a vast range of tastes and interests with stories that stimulate imagination, understanding, discussion and change. English-speaking audiences can become acquainted with French playwrights or young students can take their first step in a life-long appreciation of theatre. Homegrown plays, lauded nationally and abroad, are presented by some companies while others play cultural ambassadors and tour their offerings inside and outside the province. Fact-based productions bring Canadian history to vivid life or delve into stories of other countries and cultures. Theatre-goers will experience characters' challenges and triumphs, embark on spiritual, emotional and historical journeys, see life through the eyes of the disenfranchised and the persecuted, or explore issues of sexuality, freedom, and power. Repercussion Theatre to Stage All-Female JULIUS CAESAR, 7/7-8/3
This summer, for the first time in Repercussion Theatre's 28-year history, it is presenting William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, directed by Amanda Kellock, (Artistic Director), for its annual Shakespeare-in-the-Park (SITP) tour. From July 7 to August 3, Montreal and surrounding area residents can venture out to local parks with blankets, picnic baskets and kids to watch the centuries' old tale presented with the unique spin of an all-female cast.
STATE OF DENIAL to Run 10/8-25 at Segal Centre
As we currently witness in the forefront of worldwide daily news, there's no hiding from countries' hideous reaction to 'other'. Teesri Duniya Theatre, in collaboration with the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of Canada (AGCCC), is honoured to present Rahul Varma's State of Denial from October 8-25 at Segal Centre Studio. This moving and unsettling play, directed by Liz Valdez, highlights the urgent need to counter denials of gendered violence, ethnic cleansing and racial rivalry. Continuing their mandate to encourage dialogue, the company will hold a talkback with invited guests after each matinee performance.

Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre to Present BLIND at MAI, 4/3-13
Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre, in collaboration with the MAI (Montreal, arts interculturels), willpresent the world premiere of this significant new work, Blind. Playwright Lindsay Wilson, affected by an article about people with albinism in East Africa being hunted and violently murdered for their body parts, boarded a plane to Tanzania to volunteer and observe. This resulted in Blind, a new play directed by Alison Darcy which will be performed at the MAI from April 3-13. At its heart, Blind reflects our current climate- the debate around the 'different other'. Throughout the run donations will be raised for Under the Same Sun, a charity working to improve the lives of people with albinism.

How do you move on, move through, move past inflicted heinous violations? Can vengeance lead to hope? Imago Theatre is honoured to present Erin Shield's If We Were Birds, winner of the 2011 Governor General's Award for Drama, from tonight, October 9-19 at Centaur Theatre. This moving, funny and unsettling play, with an all-star Montreal cast directed by Micheline Chevrier, gives voice to women forced into silence through violence. Continuing their mandate to encourage dialogue, the company will hold a talkback after each performance.
