Edwidge Danticat, Donna Hill, And Liza Jessie Peterson Headline NBWC2021 Symposium Spotlighting Unsung Literary Voices

The Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College, CUNY (CBL) will celebrate and  honor the lives and works of legendary writers Paule Marshall and John A. Williams at the 2021 National Black Writers Conference Biennial Symposium (NBWC2021). The one-day virtual event is titled They Cried  I Am: The Life and Work of Paule Marshall and John A. Williams, Unsung Black Literary Voices. Esteemed  authors such as Edwidge Danticat, Donna Hill, and Liza Jessie Peterson will headline the day.
Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin and Roundabout's Julia Levy Included in Mayor De Blasio's Arts, Culture & Entertainment Advisory Council

Today, Mayor Bill de Blasio appointed members to the following Sector Advisory Councils: Labor and Workforce; Large Business; Small Business; and Arts, Culture, and Entertainment. Sector Advisory Councils will inform the Administration's efforts to restart the economy and city life. The councils will serve as critical links to disseminate information about re-opening and provide guidance to shape the City's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Membership of the councils on Faith, Construction and Real Estate, Non-Profits and Social Services, Public Health and Healthcare, Education and Vocational Training, and Surface Transportation will be announced in the coming days.
Point Park University's The REP Announces 2014-2015 Season

The 2014-2015 season of The REP, Point Park University's professional theatre company, will include two world premieres by Pittsburgh playwrights, a classic by Nobel laureate John Steinbeck and a hilarious comedy about an American singer renowned for her lack of rhythm, tone and especially an ability to sing.
James Franco Confirms Chris O'Dowd to Costar in OF MICE AND MEN on Broadway

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, John Steinbeck's OF MICE AND MEN will be heading to Broadway beginning (tentatively) Saturday, March 22, 2014, with an opening night slated for Thursday, April 17, 2014. The show is set to run through Sunday, July 27, 2014. The play will be directed by Anna D. Shapiro. James Franco has just confirmed in an interview with US Weekly that he will lead the production as 'George', and Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, Girls) will costar as 'Lennie.' Additional casting has not yet been announced.

Now according to the New York Times, the production will be led by James Franco as 'George', who has been long rumored to be involved with the revival. Though no one has signed on to play 'Lennie', Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, Girls) is in talks to make his Broadway debut in the role. Additional casting has not yet been announced.
