SOMEWHERE SOUTH with Vivian Howard Airs March 27 on PBS Friday
Celebrity chef, author and restaurateur Vivian Howard, who previously hosted the award-winning series A CHEF'S LIFE, returns to PBS in a new six-part series, SOMEWHERE SOUTH. A culinary tour exploring the dishes that are uniting cultures and creating new traditions across the American South, SOMEWHERE SOUTH premieres Fridays, March 27-May 1, 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET (check local listings) on PBS, PBS.org and the PBS Video App.

From new episodes of FINDING YOUR ROOTS with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. to Season 2 of NO PASSPORT REQUIRED with Marcus Samuelsson to SOMEWHERE SOUTH, a new series with Chef Vivian Howard, PBS will explore America's diversity through food, history and culture with a series of programs scheduled from January through March 2020. Additional programs include AMERICAN EXPERIENCE “The Poison Squad,” about the chemist who fought for food safety at the turn of the 20th century, and FOOD. ROOTS. PHILIPPINES, Billy Dec's search for the recipes of his ancestors. Chef Patrick O'Connell's magnificent obsession is revealed in THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON: A DELICIOUS DOCUMENTARY and new digital series GOOD GUMBO (w.t.) travels to Louisiana, the Mississippi Delta and the Gulf to delve into the region's rich food and cultural heritage. Full of surprising revelations and unforgettable characters, these programs celebrate our uniquely American culture and showcase the myriad contributions that diverse groups of Americans have made to our country, our cuisine, and our common history.

NO PASSPORT REQUIRED returns for a second season with renowned chef and executive producer Marcus Samuelsson visiting six new cities to explore the rich diversity of immigrant traditions and cuisines woven into American food and culture. To whet viewers' appetites for the new season, PBS will offer a special night of programming on Friday, December 13. Kicking off the evening will be CHEFS MARCUS AND VIVIAN: A TASTE OF WHAT'S NEXT (8:30-9:00 p.m. ET), featuring Marcus and Chef Vivian Howard from the new PBS series SOMEWHERE SOUTH as they meet new friends at L.A.'s Grand Central Market and provide glimpses of their upcoming seasons. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 45th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards. The ceremony will be held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday, April 29, 2018 hosted by Mario Lopez, host and star of the Emmy award-winning syndicated entertainment news show, Extra, and Sheryl Underwood, one of the hosts of the Emmy award-winning, CBS Daytime program, The Talk. Les Dames D'Escoffier Announces Chefs Vivian Howard And Ed Kenney in ROOTS RUN DEEP Fundraiser
Les Dames d'Escoffier Hawaii Chapter is holding its annual fundraiser, "Roots Run Deep" on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Mari's Gardens to benefit their "Dames who Donate" Scholarship Fund. Chef Vivian Howard was last year's James Beard Award winner for Outstanding Personality/Host for her work in PBS' popular show 'A Chef's Life,' and is a four-time James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef in America: Southeast. Vivian, a Dame herself, will be joined by local Chef Ed Kenney, who hosts his own Emmy Award winning PBS show, "Family Ingredients." Ed is also a four-time James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef in America: West. The evening will feature Kenney and Howard alongside some of the members of the Hawaii chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier, including Lee Anne Wong, Michelle Karr-Ueoka, Jackie Lau, Maria Short and Abigail Langlas among many others.
