Vivek J. Tiwary is a producer, financier, writer, and director for film, television, theater, music, and graphic novels. He is the producer and writer of “The Fifth Beatle,” a feature film and graphic novel in development based on the life of Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein. The film has secured unprecedented access to Beatles’ music, is fully financed at a $25 million budget, and is currently prepping to shoot in 2012. In television, Vivek is developing a number of projects including “Fractured”—a one-hour drama best described as “Lost” meets “The Da Vinci Code”—and “Punk Rock Dad” for CBS, a family-friendly sitcom based on Pennywise lead singer Jim Lindberg’s bestselling memoir/parenting manual. Currently on Broadway, he is a producer of the Tony Award-winning production of “The Addams Family” starring Brooke Shields (formerly starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth). He is also a producer of the groundbreaking Green Day’s “American Idiot,” an adaptation of the superstar rock band’s multi- platinum album. Initially launched on Broadway, “American Idiot” is now moving on to a national tour. Vivek’s other Broadway productions include the Tony Award-winning Stephen Sondheim revival “A Little Night Music” starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury (recast with Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch); the Tony Award-winning revival of “A Raisin In The Sun” starring Sean Combs (Vivek was lead producer); and Mel Brooks’ Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals and touring shows "The Producers" and “Young Frankenstein.” Off-Broadway, Vivek produced a theatrical collaboration between electropop/performance artists Fischerspooner and avant-garde theatre collective The Wooster Group (founded by Willem Dafoe, Spalding Gray, and others) that launched the 2008 Sao Paulo Art Bienal. Finally, Vivek also serves as CEO of music company StarPolish (www.starpolish.com), whose mission is to educate, empower, and develop musical artists. Prior to founding his companies Tiwary Entertainment Group (www.tiwaryent.com) and StarPolish, Vivek held a number of major label music-industry positions, including launching and running the Alternative Marketing Department at Mercury/PolyGram Records, and managing Video Promotion for Mercury/PolyGram, where he worked closely with MTV and VH1. Vivek has worked with artists covering the entire musical spectrum including Bruce Springsteen, Shania Twain, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Kiss, LL Cool J, John Mellencamp, Allen Ginsberg, Oasis, Hanson, and The Mighty Mighty BossTones to name but a few. Among many charitable pursuits, Vivek is the Co-Founder of Musicians On Call, a nonprofit organization that uses music and entertainment to complement the healing process. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of both the Wharton School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences. Vivek also holds a filmmaking certificate from The New York Film Academy and is an acting student of Susan Batson/Black Nexxus Acting Studio.
