A.R.T./New York to Open Two State-of-the-Art Performance Spaces This Fall
The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York, New York City's leading service and advocacy organization for nonprofit theatre, today announced that in late November 2016 it will open the A.R.T./NEW YORK THEATRES, two affordable, state-of-the-art performance spaces located at 502 West 53rd Street - designed by award-winning architect Toshiko Mori - along with its selection of 21 nonprofit companies for the inaugural 2017-18 season.
ArtsPool Launches in New York City
ArtsPool Services Inc. (ArtsPool), a New York City-based company that delivers core administration services to nonprofit arts organizations through a cooperative and shared infrastructure, announced today that is has begun serving its first three pilot members: The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York), Big Dance Theater, and Harbor Lights Theater Company. Initially a project of A.R.T./New York and developed by Guy Yarden, Sarah Maxfield, Max Dana and David Sheingold, ArtsPool organizes and provides skilled labor in tandem with a shared suite of web-based tools that help arts organizations save administrative time, control cost, and elevate output so they can allocate more resources toward their artistic endeavors.
TCG, Broadway League & More Set for Microphone Safety Panel in Washington D.C.
Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to partner with the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) and The Broadway League to represent theatres in the coalition of performing arts organizations, religious institutions and professional sports leagues supporting PARDON THE INTERRUPTION: a Capitol Hill Forum to protect wireless microphones from the threat of harmful interference posed by the reorganization of the broadcast spectrum and a new generation of electronic devices. The office of Congressman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL-1) will host testimonials about the pivotal role of wireless microphones in the U.S. economy and culture from multiple Tony Awarda-winning actor and playwright Harvey Fierstein, as well as representatives from Broadway, not-for-profit theatres, mega-churches and major league sports.
Naked Angels Partners with The New School for Drama
The New School for Drama will welcome Naked Angels, the eclectic downtown theater company, as its producing partner, training young theater artists in an environment of experimentation and collaboration. Naked Angels will be housed in New School facilities and provide undergraduate and graduate theater students a critical professional association with working artists in New York theater.

The theme evokes the struggle of the artist, especially in an economic downturn, and all the plays that evening are comically razor-sharp: A Dark & Stormy Night (producer tortures writer 'for his own good'), The Poorly-Written Play Festival (lambasts whilst demonstrating bad playwriting), Worst. Play. Ever. (live radio drama with a maniacal twist), and Piss Play Is about Minorities, So It's Really Important (just how far will one go for funding?).
