The Discovery Orchestra Wins Its Eleventh Telly Award For Its Latest TV Special
The Discovery Orchestra (TDO), the Summit, New Jersey-based orchestra known for its teaching concerts in performance halls and on the small screen, has just won its eleventh Telly Award. The ensemble, which has introduced millions around the world to the pleasures of classical music listening, is a Bronze Telly Winner in Television – Cultural for Discover Saint-Saëns' “Organ” Symphony, a compelling exploration of the soaring Finale of French composer Camille Saint-Saëns' tour de force Symphony No. 3.
DISCOVER THE FIREBIRD Honored With Two Telly Awards
The Discovery Orchestra, whose teaching concerts have introduced classical music to millions across the nation, has just won two Telly Awards for its latest program Discover the Firebird, an interactive exploration of Igor Stravinsky's iconic Firebird Suite. Led by Founder and Artistic Director George Marriner Maull, The Orchestra has been honored with a Silver Award for Television: General Education and a Bronze Award for Television: General Cultural for the one-hour program airing now on public television stations across the U.S., bringing its total to nine Tellys since 2011. The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens.
The Discovery Orchestra Holds Interactive Discovery Concert
The Discovery Orchestra (the Orchestra) will kick off its 33rd season with Discover The Firebird, an interactive concert taped for national broadcast, on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 2:45 PM to 4:30 PM ET at the Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey. Over 500 audience members will have a chance to be part of the taping for national broadcast while they are simultaneously led through three movements of Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Suite. Discover The Firebird will be nationally distributed by American Public Television beginning in the spring of 2020 and will mark the Orchestra's fifth public television program.

Approximately 230 leading community figures, donors and supporters gathered at The Concert Hall at Drew University on Sunday, April 29, for The Discovery Orchestra's (the Orchestra's) annual concert and gala celebration entitled Discover the Joy of Corelli. The celebration honored Far Hills residents Ellen and David Williams with the annual Discovery Award, which recognizes an individual or couple for their longtime support of the Orchestra's music education mission and work.
