BIO

A Toronto theatre director, designer and producer, Vikki is currently the Artistic Director of Theatrefront.

As the founder of DVxT Theatre Company, Vikki’s work included a multi award-winning production of Ibsen’s The Doll House adapted by John Murrell, the acclaimed Soulpepper production of Happy Days starring Martha Burns and a site-specific production of The Turn of the Screw at the Campbell House Museum. DVxT received 19 Dora Nominations and 12 Dora Awards for their work.

As a director, selected credits include: Top Girls (The Shaw Festival), The Bull, The Moon and the Coronet of Stars (The Theatre Department/Summerworks), Good People (Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre), Tainted (Moyo Theatre), 4.48 Psychosis (Necessary Angel), The Misanthrope (Associate, Stratford Shakespeare Festival), The Mill Part 4 : Ash (Theatrefront/Young Centre), Romeo & Juliet (Canadian Stage) and The Last Five Years (The Grand Theatre).
Vikki has collaborated with many other theatre artists and companies including: Autumn Leaf Performance, Buddies in Bad Times, Crow's Theatre, Factory Theatre, Great Canadian Theatre Company, The National Arts Centre, Nightwood Theatre, Theatre Passe-Muraille, Smith-Gilmour, Tarragon Theatre, Theatre Calgary, Theatre Direct, Théâtre français de Toronto and the Urge Collective.

Upcoming projects include: three new commissions in development: Climbing Down by John Murrell for actors Brian Dennehy and Daniela Vlaskalic, RumiNation a new collaboration between Vikki, Naomi Skwarna and Andrew Shaver about the poet Rumi, and The Orange Dot by Sean Dixon.

Vikki has received Dora Mavor Moore Awards for Outstanding Direction (The Doll House and The Turn of the Screw), Outstanding Production (The Doll House) and Outstanding Set design (The Doll House). Vikki has been nominated for 6 Dora Awards and has received a Harold Award. She has been nominated for the John Hirsch Emerging Directors Award.

EDUCATION Vikki studied directing, design and anthropology at the University of Victoria and the University of Calgary. She holds a BFA from the University of Calgary.

OTHER Vikki has directed graduating classes at the University of Toronto, York University, the Toronto Film School and the National Theatre School.

2023 Marks 40 Years of Dream in High Park

This summer, Canadian Stage celebrates 40 magical years of Dream in High Park by bringing back one of Shakespeare's most beloved plays, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM.  The first play ever presented in the High Park amphitheatre in 1983, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM has long been associated with the time-held tradition of Shakespeare under the stars.
County Stage Company Announces 2023 Summer Season

The 2015 Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario is shaping up to be a great mix of Shavian classics, an American musical, Canadian premieres and cutting edge modern day drama. DVxT Theatre Company and Theatrefront Merge to Tell a New Story

On July 1st 2013, Theatrefront merged with DVxT Theatre Company. Both companies share a similar aesthetic in terms of style, rehearsal process, production values and core storytelling. Both companies prioritize new work, innovative productions of classics and an ensemble structure. Theatrefront and DVxT have 24 years of combined experience, which includes 20 productions in Toronto, 35 Dora Award Nominations and 16 Dora Awards.

The 2013 Dora Awards took place in Toronto on Monday June 25th at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. To accommodate demand, the Bluma theatre was also opened up for guests and the awards were live-streamed via 'Doratron'. As in previous years, there was a glamorous VIP ceremony pre-show followed by a post show street party that closed down Front Street. A record number of Doras were given out, with Young People's Theatre's CINDERELLA the runaway hit of the evening with seven awards. BWW is thrilled readers photos from the evening.

The Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park presents Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare's timeless tale of ill-fated lovers and feuding families. ROCK OF AGES et al. Win 2010 Dora Awards

The 31st Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2009/2010 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony on the evening of Monday, June 28 at Toronto's in the Bluma Appel Theatre of the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, hosted by the celebrated CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi. The Dora Mavor Moore Awards are produced and presented on behalf of the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) and celebrate excellence in Toronto theatre, dance and opera. The 225 Dora-eligible shows opened between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010. A total of 35 Dora Awards plus the Silver Ticket Award, the Pauline McGibbon Award and the Audience Choice Award were given out.
