Week Two Winner Revealed For The Players Theatre Short Play Festival
This past weekend saw West Village audiences gathering to enjoy 5 original short plays about life in New York during Week 2 of the 13th annual Players Theatre NYC Short Play Festival. Each weekend for three weeks in June, a new selection of 15-minute original plays premieres to reflect on life in the Big Apple.

Write Out Loud has received a grant of $20,000 to host the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read in San Diego. Write Out Loud is one of 62 nonprofit organizations in the US selected to receive an NEA Big Read grant to support a community reading program.

Write Out Loud – an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud for a live audience – announces 2022 Read Imagine Create. 2022 Read Imagine Create focuses on The House On Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. This marks the 10th year that Write Out Loud has provided this initiative for the community. The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, April 25th at 6pm. The community can watch virtually to see student artwork, performances, animations/films and hear student poetry and stories.
SD High School Student, Sadie Stevens, Moves on to State Poetry Out Loud Competition
Sadie Stevens, a Junior at Valley Center High School in Valley Center, took first place in the 2022 countywide Poetry Out Loud competition on February 8th. This is Stevens’ third year participating in the program and this year, she will represent San Diego at the upcoming state finals. Xiaofan (April) Zuo of Canyon Crest Academy placed Second at the event.
