Primo Levi | Vasily Grossman The Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto presents the North American premiere of From Treblinka to Auschwitz: a dialogue between witnesses on January 29 at 6:30 PM in honour of Holocaust Remembrance Day. This theatrical reading of excerpts from Auschwitz Testimonies by Primo Levi and Leonardo De Benedetti and The Hell of Treblinka by Russian writer and journalist Vasily Grossman, takes place at the Alliance Francaise, 24 Spadina Road, and admission is free.

Dmitry Krymov has directed a new 'Anna Karenina' - and named it by her son's name, 'Seryozha'. 'This is a stage play based on motifs of a great novel, I would even say, on very distant motifs', the director explained his work where most of the Tolstoy's characters are erased, where Anna is transformed into Lyudmila Shaposhnikova from Vasily Grossman's novel 'Life and Fate' - and where the feeling of losing a child is clearly similar both in 19th century and during the Great World War.

The legendary Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg - described by Peter Brook as 'the finest ensemble theatre in Europe' - returns to London this spring for a strictly limited engagement for the first time in over a decade. They will present the UK premi re of Vasily Grossman's epic novel, Life and Fate, and reprise their celebrated production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket. Press nights will be held for Life and Fate on Tuesday May 8th and Wednesday 9th and on Tuesday May 15th for Uncle Vanya. Both productions will be performed in Russian with English surtitles.
