OrpheusPDX General and Artistic Director, Christopher Mattaliano, has officially announced the details of the 2023 season, the company's second. Performances of Mozart's masterwork The Royal Shepherd (Il Re Pastore) and Nico Muhly's compelling Dark Sisters will take place in Portland's 475-seat Lincoln Hall, where opera is experienced at its best—up close and personal.

Portland Opera has announced a reimagined 2020/21 season, featuring a series of virtual recitals from the company's artistic home in Southeast Portland, an outdoor opera experience, and productions broadcast via the company's new digital channel, Portland Opera Onscreen.
Portland Opera Announces 2019/20 Season
Portland Opera is pleased to announce programming for the company's 56th season, which will open on October 25, 2019. The season will launch with one of the most powerful operas of all time, Puccini's Madama Butterfly, starring internationally acclaimed soprano Hiromi Omura in the title role. In February, the company will present An American Quartet: Four One-Act Operas in an intimate evening in the Hampton Opera Center's black box theatre. These one-acts feature Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone, Samuel Barber's A Hand of Bridge, Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and Lee Hoiby's Bon Appetit! The season will continue with a rare presentation of Vivaldi's opera Bajazet in March, which will be a special collaboration with the Portland Baroque Orchestra. In the spring, Portland Opera will present its annual Big Night concert and Leoncavallo's verismo masterpiece, Pagliacci. The 2019/20 season will close with the Portland Opera premiere of Jake Heggie's familial drama, Three Decembers.
Portland Opera Presents 2019 Big Night Concert
Portland Opera is thrilled to present the company's annual Big Night concert on May 11, 2019 at the Keller Auditorium. Music Director George Manahan will lead the Portland Opera chorus, orchestra, resident artists, and guest soloists in an evening of some of the most beautiful music ever composed, with works by Verdi, Bizet, Mozart, and more. General Director Christopher Mattaliano will host the evening's program, which will feature a special reveal of the company's 2019/20 season.
