BIO

Born in Miami and raised on Miami Beach, Ms. Aspillaga moved to New York City at 17. Her first professional job as an actor was playing "Marie" in the film "Mr. Wonderful" directed by Academy Award winner Anthony Minghella. Concurrently, she auditioned, and was accepted, into The LAB (Latino Actors' Base) now known as the seminal LAByrinth Theater Company.


In 2003, she made her Broadway debut in the role of "Marela" alongside Jimmy Smits in the Pulitzer Prize winning play "Anna in the Tropics" written by Nilo Cruz and directed by Emily Mann. In 2006 she played the role of "Matilde" alongside Jill Clayburgh and Blair Brown in Sarah Ruhl's Pulitzer Prize finalist "The Clean House" at Lincoln Center Theater. She returned to Lincoln Center Theater in 2013 performing several characters, including a woman speaking Urdu, alongside Jeff Goldblum and Laurie Metcalf, in "Domesticated" written by Bruce Norris and directed by Anna Shapiro.
She has had the pleasure of acting on such stages as: The Public Theater's New York Shakespeare Festival at the Delacorte, Brooklyn Academy of Music, INTAR, New York Theatre Workshop, The Women's Project, La MaMa Etc., HERE, and Theater for the New City, to name a few.
She earned her Actors' Equity Association card doing "Voir Dire" written by Joe Sutton and directed by Doug Hughes at Seattle Repertory. She is proud to have cut her teeth as an actor by working at many distinguished regional theaters including: McCarter Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, and New York Stage and Film.
