Valerie St. Pierre Smith is an award-winning costume designer, artisan and stylist with an eclectic background including theatre, opera, dance, fashion and themed entertainment. Her work has been seen coast to coast, including at the Kennedy Center, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Sea World: San Diego, the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, on runways and in editorial photo shoots. Some of her favorite credits include: Mermaid Hour: Remixed (Mixed Blood Theatre), Stranger from Paradise (Opera Omaha | Great Plains Theatre Conference), The Marionette Effect (Kennedy Center/Very Special Arts), Grandchildren of the Buffalo Soldiers (National Museum of the American Indian), Antebellum (Woolly Mammoth Theatre), and Terrors of the Deep (Sea World, San Diego). Valerie is known for her diverse and unusual design aesthetic and creative, collaborative spirit. She is incredibly proud of both her Anishnaabe (Ojibwe) native American heritage and her membership in United Scenic Artists 829.
