Freeform & Hulu Acquire Linear and Digital Rights to Three Feature Films From STXfilms
In advance of today's Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, Freeform and Hulu announce the acquisition of three hit films from STXfilms. The two Walt Disney Television entities struck a deal to license STXfilms' “Hustlers” and “The Upside,” each of which generated over $100 million during their North American theatrical run, as well as the STX hit comedy “I Feel Pretty,” which generated over $94 million worldwide. The films will simultaneously debut on Freeform and Hulu.
2019 Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Festival Announces Line-Up
Celebrating its 37th anniversary, Outfest - the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization promoting equality by creating, sharing, and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen - today announced the complete programming lineup for the 2019 Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival, presented by HBO. The nation's leading LGBTQ festival will be held July 18-28, 2019.

Amazon Prime has released the trailer for the muscial finale of Transparent, written by Jill Soloway and starring Judith Light Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, Alexandra Billings, Kathryn Hahn, Shakina Nayfack, and Trace Lysetteand. It was previously announced that Jeffrey Tambor would not return for the finale, and that the musical episode deals with the loss of Tambor's character Maura.

Comedian-actor Zainab Johnson (“Late Night with Seth Meyers,” HBO's “All Def Comedy”) is set to host the finale screening and awards ceremony of the 13th Annual NBCUniversal SHORT FILM FESTIVAL on October 24, 2018 at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood. The festival which is part of the network's talent infusion programs (NBC TIPS) celebrates diverse stories while finding the next generation of storytellers. Festival alumni include Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed 2”), Hasan Minhaj (“The Daily Show”), Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”) and Simone Missick (“Luke Cage”).

On Saturday night in Los Angeles, Billy Porter ("POSE," "American Horror Story: Apocalypse") hosted DIVERSITY x DESIGN, an Emmy season soiree celebrating diversity, inclusion and representation on television. Presented by BOOM Events, the evening benefitted DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, the national non-profit organization that raises awareness and grants funds to organizations that provide treatment, direct care services, preventive education programs and advocacy for individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS.
